Types of Services

Visiting Time, Service, then Cremation

Because cremation takes place afterward, the person's body can be present for visiting hours and a service. Embalming may be required if the body is going to be viewed. Your funeral director can tell you what your state laws are regarding this. A service can take place after the visiting hours whether they're in the evening or in the morning. After the service, family members have the option of going to the crematory for prayers or a short service there. Or the service can be there instead of at the funeral home.

These places are frequently chosen when the park, body of water or other place was a favorite spot of the person being remembered, or had some special significance to them. In some instances, it might even be on property owned by a family member or friend.
